CDPG AGM Notice & Rules Amendments

At our AGM (7pm, Tuesday 29 October), we will be voting on a motion to amend our current rules.

The reason for these amendments to the CDPG Rules is to better reflect our activities, processes and objectives, with particular reference to change in how members “join” the Group. Historically CDPG members were levied annual fees, but in the past 5-6 years this has changed to seeking sponsors and supporters for our events and activities. The proposed changes also correct minor typographical errors and ensure consistency in use of definitions.

The proposed amendments will:

  • change how we record and recognise our Members, instead of membership subscriptions/levies being paid, our Members are recognised as residents, ratepayers and operators in the Cromwell Ward of the CODC.

  • include the ability for CDPG to enter into contracts to supply our services to external people, groups and events

  • reiterate how funds are to be used for only charitable purposes and ensure our Committee and Members are not able to receive any distributions of profit or income.

  • remove the obligation for our annual financial statements to be audited, and instead an accountant is to prepare such statements.

  • reduce the required member attendance for Society Meetings from 20 to 15 members.

  • reduce the requirement for members to sign proposed motions to amend rules from 20 to 10 members.

  • correct the provisions relating to winding up CDPG to align with our non-profit status.

The CDPG Committee has approved the proposed amendments and believe the amendments best reflect the current activities and processes of the group.
