Embrace the Whimsical at the Light Up Your Hat Competition!

Whether it’s illuminating giant fruit, racing cars, bikes, or vintage treasures to name a few, now is the time to unleash your inner mad hatter at this year’s Light Up Your Hat Competition.

Proudly brought to you by the team at Barrett Homes Central Otago, you will not want to miss out on all that is weird, wacky and wonderful. The iconic Light Up Your Hat competition is a fun and creative event where participants are encouraged to design and decorate their hats with lights, to showcase their unique style and creativity.

Event Co-ordinator Anthea Lawrence says “We can’t wait to see this year’s entries. It’s such a fun way to get creative for all age groups, be a bit mad for a day, and connect as a community!”

The highlight is the hat parade taking place on the Main Stage in the Anderson Park Rose Garden where entrants have the opportunity to dazzle the crowd in all their illuminating glory. The competition has four age categories: 5 & under, 6-10, 11-15, and 16+ with fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Returning to the judging panel and proud sponsor of the event, Dee Copeland from Barrett Homes says “We are delighted to be back on board in support of this special event, and selecting the winners is always an enjoyable yet challenging task. The level of creativity is truly astounding."

With the school holidays in full swing, now is the perfect time to get creative!
