Nestled conveniently in the Freeway Orchard Complex in Cromwell, The Cork & Cap offers visitors an exceptional taste of Central Otago's wine culture. Born from the evolution of Pisa Range Estate’s cellar door, The Cork & Cap fills a gap in the local market, providing a cosy and welcoming space for wine lovers to explore carefully selected wineries, some without their own tasting rooms.
What sets The Cork & Cap apart is its celebration of the region's wine heritage. With a selection of wines from eight to ten boutique producers, including Quartz Reef, Maori Point, Moko Hills, and Pisa Range Estate to name a few, this venue offers a unique opportunity to savour a wide variety of flavours while learning the stories behind each vineyard. Many of these wineries are family-run, and some, like Brennan Wines, are second-generation producers.
The Cork & Cap's mission is clear: to bring the finest wines of Central Otago to both locals and tourists whilst creating an immersive wine-tasting experience. It's a space to enjoy a glass of wine, share a platter, or simply relax with a coffee.
At the helm, CEO Sigrid Bodmin, runs the business with a deep-rooted passion for the wine industry, stemming from her family's long-standing connection to Central Otago's wine industry. Growing up with parents Warwick & the late Jenny Hawker, true pioneers of the Pisa wine-growing district, Sigrid witnessed firsthand the camaraderie, dedication, and passion that shaped the area's wine culture. Overseeing The Cork & Cap, alongside her GM’s role of Pisa Range Estate, Sigrid continues her family's legacy, sharing the rich history and unique flavours of local wines. Her love for the community and desire to showcase the stories behind each bottle drives her commitment to creating memorable wine experiences.
The Cork & Cap is not just a wine bar—it’s a place that embodies the spirit of Central Otago, and simply a must-visit spot in Cromwell.
