The Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group (CDPG) is gearing up for the return of the annual dazzling Cromwell Street Party & Fireworks event in the Heritage Precinct on Sunday, 27th October 2024.
Now a firm favourite in the local calendar, the event is designed to offer a positive community experience for both locals and visitors to kick-start the spring season, and perfectly timed to coincide with the Labour Day long weekend.
“We are so pleased that we are able to once again bring this special and family-friendly event to our town this year,” says Caitlin Dykes, Acting Chairperson of the CDPG.
The annual event is held in the charming surrounds of the Cromwell Heritage Precinct, with Lake Dunstan serving as an impressive backdrop for a family & friends gathering, whilst out-of-town visitors explore the venue’s nostalgic charms.
Festivities kick off at 5pm on the lawn of McNulty House with an energetic and engaging dance performance to get everyone in the party mood.
“We have a fresh event layout this year, which we feel will enhance the overall visitor experience, along with making the most of the quaint heritage precinct spaces. The surroundings of McNulty House will be transformed into a foodie’s dream, to allow attendees to dine from a large variety of food trucks & trailers, whilst enjoying live entertainment and soaking up the vibe”, says Anthea Lawrence, CDPG Events Coordinator.
Guaranteed crowd-pleaser, Jonathan Usher will wow attendees with his sleight of hand and quick-witted banter. In the kids zone, Ms Monarch will create skillful and whimsical masterpieces on the faces of young and old. Little ones needing to burn off some extra energy, are invited to join in the group hula hoop & juggling sessions, while the bouncy castles provide hours of fun and laughter.
New to the event will be the opportunity for children & adults to engage and collaborate in a unique and expressive work of art for future display. "Art has a unique way to spark connections and shared experiences. Given the event takes place in such a special heritage part of town, we wanted to emphasise the connection between community and place, so watch this space!” says Tanya Dennis, CDPG’s Marketing & Communications Manager.
FLAME Entertainment will once again bring the magic to the event, with their roving and fantastical characters, and for those who dare, The Scouts Haunted Hall guarantees an abundance of scares.
ReSounding, Gina Bina and more will keep the crowd moving & grooving until daylight fades, perfectly timed for a mesmerising twilight aerial performance, before joining the countdown lake-side as the night sky illuminates with an enthralling display of fireworks over the Kawarau River at 8.45pm, or as soon as it’s dark enough.
